Radiation Protection
Led by our corporate Radiation Protection Advisor and in conjunction with our partners, we offer a full range of radiological protection services to our clients. Our extensive decommissioning and operational experience contributes to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) considerations in planning, whilst having due consideration for managing costs.
Our team, is able to offer a full service Radiological Protection regime. Our advisory services are based on hands-on field experience, international best practices and local and international standards. We have a full complement of radiological protection personnel consisting of Radiation Protection Advisers (RPA), Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS), Health Physicists and Radiation Protection Technicians which contributes to the whole radiological protection lifecycle that we can offer.
Services offered by our radiological protection service include:
- Provide radiation protection advice and guidance
- Provide operational radiological monitoring expertise and support
- Managing characterisation (direct monitoring and intrusive sampling) and site clearance of materials and wastes
- Developing and delivering training in Radiological Protection, Human Performance, and Nuclear Safety Culture
- Defining and providing the project and risk specific personal protective and respiratory equipment
- Specifying, providing, training and use of appropriate and latest technology radiological monitoring instrumentation.
- Provision of radiation dosimetry from approved services, advice and guidance on dosimetry requirements and review of dose assessments
- Assessment and appointment of Radiation Protection Supervisors as required
- Compilation and submittal of legislative returns and reports
- Development and assistance in Radiation Protection Training
- Produce technical reports and written advice on radiological safety
- Produce radiological risk assessments in accordance with Regulation 7 of the IRRs
- Provide advice and guidance on the designation of radiation and contamination controlled areas and ensure the enforcement of relevant controls and legislative obligations
- Produce Local Rules and contingency plans to meet the requirements of the IRRs
- Conduct investigations into radiological events/near misses
- Provide advice and guidance on source management and control and radiological protection instrumentation
